Getting Ready for Easter

Today we dyed the Easter eggs. Nathan has been asking for weeks and today I remembered to boil the eggs. I do not know if it was me, or the eggs, but the dye did not dye very well. The pink one work well, but the rest had to sit in the dye for 5 minutes or longer before there was a dark enough color on the eggs that it was visible they had been dyed. Kayla was more than happy to dye all of her eggs, and Emily's eggs pink, but Nathan wanted more colors. He was able to eventually get a few blue ones and a green one. We ended up with 3 blue, 1 green, and 6 pink. They had fun and now we (Paul and I) will be eating boiled eggs for the next few days.

Crawling, almost...

Maddie will be crawling soon. We were upstairs and she got up on all fours then moved one arm forward, then one leg, then was on all fours for a few seconds and flopped down to her belly. She has also been trying to pull herself up. She likes to grab my hands and use then to pull herself from laying to kneeling to standing. I am curious if she will be like Emily and be walking by 10 months???
She is not crawling, just on all fours

Cat and Mouse

This afternoon Maddie was scooting around on the floor and noticed Sally laying under the table in the dining room, well she scooted herself from the living room to the formal dining room just so she could grab some fur!! It was cute to watch, Maddie would grab her fur and pull, Sally would tolerate and then lift up as if to bite, but never did it, then Maddie would let go and they would start over again, Sally finally scooted away and Maddie was not able to crawl over one of the legs of the table to get to her. Maddie was so happy to play with Sally's fur, it just tickles her.

Spring is in the air!!

The weather the past few weeks has been GREAT, I am not looking forward to the heat that will be here in a month. We have been busy planting plants and watching the trees and flowers bloom. Happy Spring!!

Easter Egg Hunt

Yesterday the neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt for the children in the neighborhood. The kids had a good time picking up eggs off of the ground and anxiously looking to see what kind of candy awaited them in each egg. It was fun and although, prior to the hunt, Kayla told us over and over again how she did not like Easter egg hunts and how boring they are, she had an enjoyable time. They had a ring toss, cake walk, area to color and ball throw (at which Nathan won three prize tickets which he shared with Kayla and Emily, they picked out a recorder~ the instrument, and two beany babies a wolf and a bear. After the hunt we spent time at the house and then went to a neighbors house for dinner and to let the kids play with some fiends. They have a trampoline and a huge sand box. Nathan and Kayla enjoyed playing on the trampoline while Emily enjoyed playing in the sand and by playing in the sand, I mean getting sand everywhere, in her hair, well everywhere!!
Getting Ready!!
If you can't hit the hole, just keep moving closer...

Fighting Cows

This morning on the way to take Nathan and Kayla to school, Nathan says, "Mom, those cows are fighting." (I should tell you we pass a few farms with cattle along the way to their school.) I was interested because I do not think I have ever seen a cow fight. SO I listened even closer as he continued, "One was on top of the other." I just smiled and chuckled inwardly as he was so amazed that they were fighting. NO, I did not tell him what they were really doing, I left him in his own innocent world where cows fight. Kayla did try to argue with him about the fact hat cows do not fight, so Nathan explained that one was on top of the other and the one on the top jumped off. It was too cute.
